Hunger Games at the box office

This past weekend the Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 scored 120 million opening weekend at the box office. From what I heard about trhe movie the audiences are kind of split, some say it was the best Hunger Games so far and others say that they did not like it and it was just boring build up for part 2. I think those mixed reactions hurt their box office a little bit, but still they got 120 million opening weekend at the box office. But this movie did not pass the box office of the Hunger Games Catching Fire that got 158 million opening weekend. The box office should have wnet up for this movie because since Catching Fire was so good you would think the box office for Mockingjay would go up, but it didn't. I think it didn't make more than Catching Fire for a couple of reasons. 1 reason is that this movie is a part 1 and the casual movie gower deosn't care about build up, all they care about is a continuation of the story. The 2nd reason is the movie was released during Oscar season, if they were able to release this movie in the summer whne the kids are able to go, because they are off from school the number would go way up, becasue this is a blockbuster not Oscar bait.

Are Trailers for Trailers a Good Thing?

A few days aog Jurassic World droped a short 30 second clip of very brief things from the movie. All it shows is just people and nothing special. But I am not here to talk about the trailer itself I am going to talk about why I don't like when studios release trailers for trailers to get hype up for their official trailer. A trailers job is to give you little bit about the story and to exite us about the movie as a whole. I dont see the point of wasting time to get out a trailer that shows us next to nothing just to get us hyped up for the thing that is supposed to hype us up for the movie. I just think it is silly to waste your money and the editors time to put out something people don't even want.

The Peanuts Trailer!

The Peanuts have released a new trailer for their upcoming movie. All I can say is it looks really good. The animation looks like it is something new with the 3D animation they are going with, but it looks like they are staying true to the older Charlie Brown shorts, by showing just one side of each characters face, but you are able to see the depth with the 3D animation. I cannot wait until this movie comes out, but it looks like I am going to have to wait for another year because it comes out Christmas 2015.

Daniel Bruhl in Captain America 3

The much anticipated movie of 2016 just landed Daniel Bruhl for a role, but Marvel has not released what character he will be playing. There is already so much hype for this move, becasue it is going to be based of the comic book story line called civil war. It is about the Avengers and there belief differences so they are pitted against eachother. This movie already exites me so much already and with the addition to Daniel Bruhl to some sort of role sounds amazing. Daniel Bruhl is such a great actor, he was in Rush and in Inglourious Basterds, when he is on screen even when someone who is a much bigger star than him is on screen with him like Brad Pitt in Inglorious Basterds he steals the scene and you can't take your eyes off of him. I am very exited for this edition to Captain America 3, but I just wonder who he might be playing.

All Hail Caesar at the Oscars

When Dawn of the Planet of the Apes came out, and everybody saw Andy Serkis's perfromance as Ceaser. Everyone started calling out saying that Andy Serkis should get a lead actor nomination for his performance. Well now it seems that Fox (the production studio behind Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is staring a campaign to get Andy Serkis a nomination, but it is not for lead actor it is for supporting actor. The reason why this choice for an oscar nomination is weird is becasue it is a perfromance capture, performance, and the academy has not yet adapted to those types of perfromances. People are a bit torn on the idea becasue since the performance is motion capture, we would have Andy Serkis running, jumping, and talking, but alot of the work is done by the CG artists, that animate his face. The other side to that argument is when you have a regular performance it is a group effort, to get the actor dressed a certain way, get the right make-up on, and it is also a group effort between the actors to bounce off each other, with Andy Serkis's perfromance it is also a group effort that includes CG animatrs for his motion capture. The other weird thing about his oscar push is, Fox is not pushing for Andy Serkis to get a lead actor nomination, they are pushing for a supporting actor nomination. If you have watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes you know that Caeser is the lead, so why is Fox pushing a supporting actor nomination. This is the part that really bugs me because it just seems that Fox is pushing the supporting actor nomination, because they don't think he will be able to get a lead actor nomination. While I do think right now Andy Serkis deserves a lead actor nomination, I don't think Fox should push for supporting actor because if that catches on (lead actors getting nominations in the supporting actor category) the supporting actor category will be a joke and just for actors who couldn't make the cut for the lead actor category. I think Andy Serkis played an amazing part in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and he should get a lead actor nomination.

The Rocky Franchise is Coming Back!

The Rocky franchise is coming back after Rocky 6 in 2006. It is not coming back the way you think though. It is coming back with a new movie called Creed that will focus on Apollo's grandson and have Sylevester Stallone as the trainer. I love the first Rocky movie, and I kind of like the rest of the Rocky movies after that, but they definitely took a downward slope after the first one. The reason why I am so exited for this movie is because this is going to be a new story that is based on a already established franchise, Michael B. Jordan is set to be the lead as Apollo's grandson,  and we have Sylvester Stallone coming back as a trainer this time. Creed is going to start shooting at the beginning of 2015.

Are There To Many Superhero Movies

With the marvel phase 3 slate announced you can see that in 2017 Marvel is planning to come out with 3 movies a year instead of 2 (which is what they have been doing since the first Avengers movie), plus with DC unavailing there slate which shows that they plan on giving us 2 movies a year starting in 2016 with Batman V. Superman, plus Fox giving us there X-men movies and Sony giving us there Spiderman movies, I can tell you it is good to be a comic book fan and a movie fan. But the question is with all of these superhero movies coming out is it too much of a good thing? My answer to that is no, because we have to realize that superhero movies are a genre now, instead of just action, adventure, and nobody complains that there are too many comedies a year, and definitely no one complains that we have too many action movies a year. The reason why we need to start seeing superhero movies as their own thing is because we have to see that the movie industry is always changing and we as the audience have to realize that.
